Hiring Corporate Bands - The Right Way

By Justine Smith

Looking for corporate bands for your company function? A lot of bands will do corporate events alongside other events. This should not be of concern to you because a large majority of bands do not just do corporate events. This does not mean you are getting an inferior band it just means the band have a wide range on offer. Examples include weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs etc.

To find corporate bands is not as hard as you may think. Searching online or through the yellow pages for music bands and music agents is a good point to start.

How do I know the band that I am booking is any good for my company? After all you will probably feeling anxious to get a good band that pleases everyone on the day, most importantly your boss! Any good experienced band is going to have its own website or social networking page.

You can find out more about the bands you have shortlisted and the kind of music they play by listening and watching their on line video performances. It's also a good idea to take a look at the comments other people have left after hiring the bands in question.

Another way to tell if your chosen band is right for you is to see them at one of their up and coming gigs or give one of their clients listed on their testimonials a ring to ask how good they were.

The cost of the band is dependent on many components. How far will the band have to travel to get the venue and at what time of year do you want them to play? The professionalism and reputation of the band will also play its part on how much you pay for their services. As a rough guide you should expect to be charged in the region of five times what you would pay for a pub band, but you will soon realize you have achieved great value for money, even when finances are going through a difficult time as they are at the moment.

An important thing to remember is that if you want a good corporate band to play at your event, you will need to book quite a few months in advance in order to secure the date.

Once you have agreed a date with the band you need to make sure the venue where your event is taking place holds a live music license. Having found the right band is the key element here so be prepared to change your venue if they do not have the necessary license. You do, after all, want this occasion remembered as a huge success by everyone attending.

Good corporate bands like to know a few details about where they are playing once you have agreed terms. This can include parking arrangements, the stage area, number of power outlets for the band etc.
