Music Fans Rejoice!

By Matt Thames

No matter what type of music you love to listen to, there are many ways for you to have access to it. The internet has had a significant impact on the music industry, since access to the internet means you have access to almost any song or piece of music you could think of. And if you are looking for something new, the internet is full of new artists waiting to be heard for the first time.

There are all types of ways to listen to the music that you discover, and all of them are great. The most popular way to get music these days is to download it from the internet. Digital downloads are the preferred method, especially for younger people. But most people are using it as their primary method to get their music. But with the ability the cherry pick the songs from any given artist; it has become a very single centric business.

Since the focus of the music industry has shifted to singles, and not entire albums, most artists primary concern is recording popular songs that will get a lot of air time on the radio. This singles will then hopefully lead to a large number of downloads. This unfortunately means that there is a decline in the number of high quality albums that are being created, with great songs from start to finish.

You didn't necessarily buy the entire album but you could have a singles collection. Digital music is great, and CD's are still a great way to listen to your music although not quite as convenient. Many people still want the physical ownership of a CD, but then download it to their digital device. Many people feel like if they are paying for the album, they want to have an actual copy of it and not just the digital version.

Downloading it to a more portable device just makes it easier to take along with you. Although tapes and eight tracks have not made a comeback; and in all likelihood won't, vinyl has made a comeback. Vinyl has begun to show up again in stores and many people are discovering it all over again or for the first time. Vinyl gives you a distinct sound and many people have decided that a perfect sound isn't the only thing that makes music great. It's all about the experience and the sound. Either way you decide to go; there are plenty of great albums and bands to discover.
